AMTRAK'S
 WI-FI

In a major expansion of AmtrakConnect Wi-Fi service, passengers on a dozen East Coast routes now have access to the popular service.

The expansion covers the Northeast Regional, as well as the Empire Service, Keystone Service, Carolinian, Downeaster, Ethan Allen Express, New Haven −Springfield Shuttle and Vermonter. Four other routes —the Adirondack, Maple Leaf, Palmetto and Pennsylvanian —will also offer Wi-Fi, but only in select cars, which will be marked with hotspot window decals.

The latest move means nearly 60 percent of all Amtrak passengers now have the ability to connect to the Internet while on board. Installation is also currently underway for Wi-Fi on the California corridor services: the San Joaquin, Capitol Corridor and Pacific Surfliner. With the addition of these routes, 75 percent of Amtrak passengers will have access to on-board Wi-Fi before the end of the year.

Free Wi-Fi on these additional routes is another reason why a record 30.2 million passengers chose to travel on Amtrak, the preferred mode of transportation throughout the Northeast Corridor, over the past twelve months.

February 4th, 2012 marks the 14th Annual Chowderfest in Saratoga Springs.  Chowderfest is a community program of the Saratoga Convention & Tourism Bureau that takes place during Winterfest weekend.  2011 featured 73 area restaurants serving their own special twist on a wintertime favorite – Chowder! Chowderfest 2012 is sure to top the 70,000+ servings to over 14,000 people in 2011, as 2012 will become even more walking friendly with select roads dedicated to pedestrian traffic only for the day, additional balloting and T-shirt outlets and more restaurant competitors than ever! Most restaurants are located within walking distance of one another with shops, galleries, pubs, boutiques and bakeries in between. This is a fantastic event for foodies, shoppers, and folks who just plain like to have fun!

Here's how it works: Chowderfest kicks off at 11:00AM, and you can start your day at any of the participating establishments. Pick up a ballot form at any participating establishment, taste different soups and chowders for a $1 a cup (3oz. serving) and vote for your favorite!  Complete your ballot form and pick up your official Chowderfest Long-sleeve T-shirt for $7.00! Ballot drop-offs and T-shirt locations will be at the Saratoga County Arts Council, the Saratoga Springs Visitors Center and the Saratoga Springs City Center. Winner Awards Ceremony in front of the Saratoga Springs City Center at 5:30 p.m.!
