A Message from the President...
|
February was an exciting month for us here in Saratoga. We had a record Chowderfest on the 5th when we welcomed more than 14,000 people to the streets of Saratoga where they sampled chowder from a record, 73 vendors. More than 70,000 bowls of chowder were served…another record!! This annual event has grown to be one of the most popular events in the Northeast. Hat’s off to Connie Crudo and the entire bureau Team, along with all of the volunteers, participants and the City of Saratoga Springs for making this event a success! We’re already hard at work planning next year’s event and expect to break records once again.
February also saw the Bureau take a tremendous step forward on the convention services side with two new additions to our “tool box”. First, we took possession of our new Conference Kiosk that will help welcome conference attendees at their headquarters property and provide delegates with key area information while here during their entire stay. This touch-screen, interactive tool will offer translated information, in several languages, details on area attractions with printable maps and even discount coupons to area shops and restaurants. We also implemented and were trained on our new online group housing tool. The Bureau entered a three year agreement with Passkey to utilize their GroupMax tool for city-wide conferences and large sports events. This tool will ensure conference delegates, exhibitors and other attendees stay at contracted properties thus eliminating the loss of room nights to properties outside the area and the group’s designated room block. Both of these tools benefit our group clients and our destination partners alike. We continue to elevate our service levels to separate Saratoga from our competition.
As we go into March and April, we will be announcing additional partnerships and tools that will further enhance our sales & service capabilities. Saratoga continues to develop and evolve as a global destination and we are excited to compete for, and win, new business for our members!
As you know, the City Center expansion is almost complete, and all of us at the bureau could not be more thrilled! We are excited to have another top notch Saratoga venue to offer our friends and clients and the opportunities this new space offers. Have you been to the City Center recently? If not, we want to arrange a tour for you. Come to Saratoga in the morning and meet us for breakfast and a tour, or in the afternoon for lunch. If your schedule is tight, we can have you in and out in less than a half hour. If you have a little more time, let us show you what is new in Saratoga. Please contact Heather or Marie today to schedule a walkthrough of the new Saratoga Springs City Center.

Game. Meet. Match. Round. Regardless of what they are called , they are all sporting events, and Saratoga wants to host them! Did you know that Saratoga has venues to accommodate almost any sport you can think of? From our beautiful new recreation center, to Gavin Park, to Saratoga Lake, we have top of the line facilities and picturesque venues. Saratoga already plays host to several sporting events, such as rowing, hockey, cross country, soccer, lacrosse, boxing and more, and we have the experience and desire to help make each event a smashing success! Our coaches love our facilities, our organizing committees love our community support, and our families love all there is to do when they’re not cheering their players on.
Do you attend any regular sporting events? Do you know someone who is involved in the planning of events? If so, we would love to hear from you! Heather McElhiney is your contact here at the bureau – send her the event you would like to see come to Saratoga and a contact name, and she will do the rest. Or, we would be happy to provide you with information on Saratoga as a sporting destination to take to that coach, organizer or planner you are thinking of. Heather can be reached at 518.584.1531 or Heather@DiscoverSaratoga.org.

All you have to do is provide us with the information for your conference. We will set it up and then send you the URL to distribute to your delegates/members.
