Recap of Annual Golf Tournament

The weather gods were on our side for the Convention Bureau's annual golf tournament! It was mostly sunny with a temperature in the 80s and golfers were geared up to play a successful round of golf at Saratoga National Golf Club. Tee time was at 1:30 pm and golfers were finishing up by 6:30 pm. The buffet reception took place in a newly constructed banquet hall at National and attracted both non-golfers and golfers. Prizes from our donators were given out while a slideshow of pictures from the day's activities played in the background on two flat screen televisions. The Bureau would like to thank everyone who was involved in making this event an enjoyable and fun day!

PCMA's Convene Magazine

Saratoga Springs was mentioned on page 36 in Professional Convention Management Association's May edition of Convene magazine! Convention Services Director Kathy Denkenberger spoke about the affects of increasing fuel costs and how Saratoga has an advantage over other destinations because of its walkable streets and location in the Northeast. Here's the article:

Rising Fuel Costs: Green Movement

The trend we're watching as a central Northeast destination is the rising price of fuel, which will have an impact on air travel, and could focus planners on drivable destinations for their offsite meetings. Also, as planners consider the environmental policies of their selected hotel and conference properties, they'll look favorably on truly green and walkable destinations (like Saratoga Springs). Destinations in the Northeast should compete favorably for meetings based on these trends, and given the population density in our part of the country.

--Kathy Denkenberger, Convention Services Director, Saratoga Convention and Tourism Bureau
