"Death" of a Saleswoman!
by Molly Brindle, Senior
Sales Manager
Who said sales is a life of
glamour? Having completed my
latest road trip to NYC, I
thought I'd share the glory
of the road trip with Bureau
members! Two days before
departure for what promised
to be a truly action-packed
two days of appointments in
NYC with a record number of
appointments, no snow and
sunny weather, I should have
known it was too good to be
true! While attending a
trade show in Albany on the
Tuesday prior to departure,
the first appointment
emailed to postpone, with
profuse apologies! The day
after that, the second
appointment emailed to
postpone. Ah, we have a
trend, one I don't
particularly like! Finally,
having put together
alternate appointments still
justifying the two day trip
to NYC, I board the train
and the phone rings again -
another postponement!
Never mind, this is routine
in sales! The fact is,
Heather and I conduct sales
missions to Boston, NYC, New
Jersey and Westchester
County often, and we've
grown accustomed to the
capricious behavior of
meeting planners. We still
count ourselves lucky to
have three good appointments
per day - and that's what
this week's trip to NYC
provided - leads for a 150p
May 2009 or 2010 senior
executive summit, a 2012
100p Delegate Assembly, and
an engineering conference!
We enjoy the "hunt" and
count ourselves lucky to be
representing such a lovely
destination, wherever our
travels take us! Next week
- off to Boston!
New York State Hospitality &
Tourism Assn. is Coming to
Saratoga in 2009 for their
annual meeting

This past week, Bureau staff
Dave Zunker, Kathy
Denkenberger and Molly
Brindle attended the NYSHTA
annual meeting at the Crowne
Plaza in Albany. On
Tuesday, we partnered with
Greg Dixon from the Saratoga
County Chamber of Commerce
and exhibited at the
Legislative Tourism Showcase
at the Egg. This proved to
be a terrific conference
both educationally and
promoting Saratoga for April
2009.
