Recap of NEMICE Trade Show 2008

Meeting Planners International (MPI) Northeast Chapter held its annual NEMICE trade show in Boston in early April.  This is the third largest regional MPI conference, and the Saratoga Convention Bureau along with several Bureau promotional partners exhibited.  Meeting planners were contacted by the Bureau by phone, email and direct mail and encouraged to come by the booth for information on hosting events in Saratoga Springs.  Some were amused by the invitation they received to celebrate the 155th birthday of the potato chip in Saratoga, and stopped by for a sample of the chocolate-dipped potato chips.  Senior Sales Manager Molly Brindle was joined at NEMICE by Judy LeCain of the Saratoga Springs City Center, Joanne Kirkpatrick of the Holiday Inn, and Shelly Yeager and Addie Waldie of Saratoga National Golf Club.  Companies and associations that stopped by to learn more about Saratoga included Sepracor, McKesson Health Solutions, Conference Hotels Unlimited (a third party planner), Frozen and Refrigerated Society of the Northeast, Royal Arcanum, CONECT, Ameriprise Financial Services, Northeast Energy and Commerce Association, and McKenna Management.

Recap of Spring Familiarization Tour

The Saratoga Convention and Tourism Bureau celebrated the 4th Annual Spring Familiarization Tour on Friday, May 2nd. Twelve meeting planners and their guests joined the Bureau and our partners for the day, learning about the lodging properties, shops, restaurants, attractions and services the Saratoga area has to offer.  We began the day with a luncheon at Union Gables Bed and Breakfast, hopped on a bus for a tour that included a backstretch tour of the Saratoga Racecourse, and concluded our day with a reception at the Saratoga Automobile Museum, catered by Black Diamond Catering.  The event garnered rave reviews from our attendees and many have expressed an interest in bringing their meeting and event business to Saratoga.  The Bureau hosts two Familiarization tours a year, one in May and one in July, as well as an event during the Victorian Streetwalk.  Each event brings in meeting and event planners from around the area and the country.
