When you become a member of the Saratoga Convention and Tourism Bureau in Saratoga Springs NY, your business will be actively promoted through various member-only outlets. We actively work to attract conventions, meetings, trade shows and social events to Saratoga Springs and bring business to our local neighborhood vendors.
"Thank you Saratoga Convention and Tourism Bureau. While the track brings customers into my shop two months a year, you are doing it each and every month. I especially love the fact that the same conventions come back year after year. I can't tell you how many times a conventioneer has come into my shop and said, "I was in last year and brought my dog home some goodies and I'm back again this year." Keep doing what you're doing!!!"

Happy February! I recently had the privilege of attending ACOM (The Association of Convention Operations Managers) Annual Convention and one day of the PCMA (Professional Convention Management Association). Our opening speaker at ACOM was Mike Rayburn who incorporated his music into a session that was very enlightening.

“What If I Could?” Wow – what a statement – we could all do so much with this. As the conference was geared towards Convention Service Directors from around the country this is quite a statement. In today’s challenging economic times everyone is looking for something extra to be provided for them. Instead of saying “NO” – let’s think about this. “What If I Could?” The power behind those four little words could make the difference in securing a group/sale, etc. – or losing them to another city for what? It could just be something very trivial – but would mean so much more to a group if we could just reach out and extend ourselves just a little.
“What If I Could?” – Please take a moment to think about it – and then envision the possibilities!

Sales Update

The bureau sales managers have had a busy January to start off the New Year!
We continue to focus on our Albany based clients and prospects in an effort to stay ‘top-of-mind’ with meeting and event planners. Marie and Heather have had several call days with partners and continue to plan out sales strategies for areas such as New York City, Washington DC, Boston, Connecticut and western NY.
Marie and Kathy D traveled to Boston to participate in the NESAE (New England Society of Association Executives) Annual Conference and Expo. This was a fabulous opportunity for Saratoga to gain strong exposure to prospective New England clients. The conference boasted record attendees and was a great way to showcase the expansion of our City Center. They will be working to follow up with a number of good connections we were able to make during the networking sessions at the show. Marie also hosted a National Association for a preliminary site visit this month. Though her time was limited to a quick tour, the client was so impressed with Saratoga and the hotel properties she visited that she plans to come back and cover some more ground in the spring! This would be a citywide group with nearly 2000 attendees and 1800 room nights!
While Marie and Kathy were on the road, Heather focused on finding new business and reviving some dormant accounts. She has had great success identifying untapped businesses in the Capital District and beyond, and is working to get Saratoga information into as many meeting planners’ hands as possible. Appointments are being made and new business is sure to follow.
Looking ahead to February Marie will hit the road for the DMAI Destinations Showcase in DC. We are excited to market our fabulous destination to the large number of National Associations housed in the DC region. Heather and several hotel partners will be traveling to Connecticut for a Westfield MPI chapter meeting and sales calls to the Westchester, NY and Fairfield, CT markets.
