From left to right: Jamie Lanning, Longfellows Hotel and Conference Center; Joanne Kirkpatrick, Holiday Inn Saratoga Springs; Christina Curley, Courtyard by Marriott Saratoga Springs and Heather McElhiney, SCTB all attended and exhibited at the Destinations of New York State Group Travel Show in Poughkeepsie, NY. The two day event attracted group tour operators and leaders from around the Northeast and included education sessions, networking and a trade show.
In addition to attending two multi-day group tour travel shows with hotel partners, Group Tour and Convention Sales Manager Heather McElhiney and a hotel partner recently spent four days at the National Association of Sports Commissions Group Annual Symposium in Greensboro, NC. The symposium attracted attendees from all aspects of the Sporting Events industry and included scheduled appointments, networking sessions and educational seminars. Saratoga took part in approx. 15 schedules appointments with event rights holders representing triathlons and duathlons, bowling tournaments, golf tournaments, lacrosse, soccer, track and field, and more. We also spoke with several event producers and organizations, such as AAU, that organize events in several different sports throughout the year. We are actively working to bring more sporting events to Saratoga county, and also to expand our venue offerings. With a wider variety of venues to offer planners of both the traditional and the unique events, we will be able to attract an audience that has not considered us before, and compete with some of the Northeast more well known sporting cities and venues. While not completely recession proof, sporting events are counted held despite the economy, attract players and spectators alike, and bring substantial economic impact to the host cities. Your Bureau is excited to be getting more involved in this viable market!
The Bureau Sales Team is busy working with capital region clients this month with meetings and scheduling future site visits. There will be a continued effort in planning for New England sales mission and participating in the NESAE 2011 Annual meeting in Rhode Island June 9th and 10th.
The sales team will be hosting clients at the Bureau’s annual golf outing on May 25th. We will also be hosting potential clients for a Summer FAM (Familiarization Tour) ahead…planning still in the works!
The Bureau is gearing up for ESSAE's Annual Conference and Expo at the Saratoga Springs City Center on June 2nd. www.essae.org. Click here to View the ESSAE Brochure!
We will be sponsoring the after party at MPI NENY’s annual Golfapalooza at Saratoga National on June 7th. This will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association and is a great opportunity to get out for an afternoon and evening of networking fun with meeting professionals and hospitality partners from the industry.
