Why Shopping Local Matters – Especially at Holiday Time
But this market is about more than just holiday shopping; it’s about fostering community, supporting small businesses, and keeping your dollars local this holiday season. Here’s why shopping local is so important, especially during the holidays:
1. Economic Impact When you spend your money at locally owned businesses, a larger share of that money stays within your community. According to the American Independent Business Alliance, for every $100 spent at a local business, $68 stays in the local economy. Compare that to just $43 when spent at a national chain. This means that by shopping local, you help create jobs, support community initiatives, and contribute to a vibrant local economy.
2. Unique Gifts with Heart The holidays are about giving, and nothing feels better than giving a gift that’s personal, thoughtful, and unique. At Ladylily’s Place’s Artisans Holiday Market, you’ll find an array of locally produced, handmade treasures that can’t be found anywhere else. Whether it’s a hand-painted rustic sign, an upcycled home décor item, or a custom cookie design, every gift has a story. And isn’t that what makes the holidays truly special?
3. Support Small Business Owners Small businesses are the backbone of the economy. They create jobs, foster innovation, and often provide products and services that larger chains simply can’t. In fact, small businesses create 64% of new jobs in the U.S. each year, according to the Small Business Administration (SBA). By shopping local, you're supporting the dreams and hard work of entrepreneurs right in your own community.
4. Personalized Service & Community Connection One of the biggest advantages of shopping at local artisan markets like Ladylily’s Place is the personalized service you receive. When you shop at our market, you'll not only get to meet the artists behind the creations, but you’ll also be supporting the effort that goes into making these one-of-a-kind products. This kind of connection is hard to come by at big-box stores!
